E22, the public educational television channel, has been established since 1996, deriving from the former Media Education and Broadcasting Centre that for over fifty years had been responsible for producing television and radio programmes and also print media in order to complement formal education in schools. Since E22’s inception, the centre, which forms part of the Ministry of Education, has specialised in the television medium, producing quality edutainment programmes targeting all ages and abilities. However, a substantial percentage of our programmes cater for children and youth, thus establishing itself as the leading Maltese producer and broadcaster of children’s programmes. The channel now broadcasts 15 hours daily, mainly local programming, co-productions with other local broadcasters and also a small percentage of foreign programmes.

E22 maximises the potential of its technical and human resources employing producers, presenters, directors and technical personnel on both full, part-time basis or on assignment. Technical resources include recording studios, which are fully equipped for live and recorded programmes and transmission. E22 also has four fully functioning digital editing suites, and ongoing agreements with leading independent production houses which contribute to producing, or offering technical facilities for E22.
